One major component of current aquaculture feed comes from wild fish in the form of fish meal and fish oil. As the demand for protein grows, and in turn, the aquaculture industry grows to meet that demand, we cannot continue to use these resources to the same levels, and instead, we need to find innovative ways of promoting responsible use of such resources and identify alternative sources to complement their use: Reducing the reliance on wild fish for fish feed, Optimization of Fish By-Products, Finding alternative sources of Omega-3 fatty acids, Insect and plant-based diets.
