A discussion of R&I focus areas that address systemic issues and accelerate high-impact transition pathways to healthy, sustainable food systems: (a) support the food security system of the future to boost consumer confidence, promoting food safety and food quality; (b) support the change to more sustainable and healthy diets, (c) reduce waste related to the food system; and (d) valorize new knowledge about the microbiome of our food system.
