Full Professor and Doctor in Biology from the University of the Basque Country. Expert in taxonomy and ecology of phytoplankton, with special interest in aspects related to toxic algae, pigments and bioprospecting. Author of 45 international articles and numerous conference communications, and principal researcher of international, national and regional projects. Director of the Basque Microalgae Culture Collection (BMCC).
